The Smithsonian presented #IfThenSheCan - The Exhibit on and around the National Mall in celebration of Women’s History Month and the power of women and girls in STEM to shape a better world.
National Celebration of Women STEM Innovators
For the first time on a national stage, 120 statues of women were unveiled to the public on March 5th, kicking off the month-long Women's Futures Month festival with an exciting lineup of Smithsonian programming for visitors of all ages and gender expressions to dream big and see themselves as scientists-in-the-making. Opening weekend festivities included a unique opportunity to meet AAAS IF/THEN Ambassadors during a free Work It! FUTURES Career Day and to enjoy inspiring activities for future-makers of all ages during a FUTURES Girl Power Family Day.
All 120 statues were placed in the Arts + Industries Building, the Smithsonian Castle, the adjacent Enid A. Haupt Garden, the National Air and Space Museum and the National Natural History Museum through March 27th.
