Helping to build an engineering workforce that looks like America.
"I decided that I wanted to see more women and minorities in this field, and so then my goal became how can I really help to encourage and make aware all of the wonderful opportunities and possibilities for engineering. So now what I do is help to make sure they can continue their studies with scholarships."
Spark a change! Electrical engineer Aisha Lawrey is the Senior Director of Programs and Scholarships for NACME, the National Action Council for Minorities in Engineering. She believes engineering is all about helping people and solving problems. At the beginning of her career she noticed there weren't enough women or minorities in engineering. So she joined NACME to begin working with students to help them financially through school so they can succeed. Lawrey has also served as Director, Engineering Education at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME).
