Leads innovative global STEM program engaging students in the hunt to discover new drugs to treat antibiotic-resistant infections.
What if students could do something meaningful in class…maybe even save lives? This is the quest that #IfThenSheCan Ambassador Erika Kurt presents to students. She leads the Small World Initiative and engages thousands of students and educators around the world in the hunt to find new drugs in soil to treat infectious diseases caused by superbugs. The global COVID-19 pandemic is a very real example of why the work she is doing is so critical. She empowers #STEM students to not just dream about using science to save lives, but to actually dig in and help save the world, starting in the classroom.
